Presidential hopeful Alberto Fernández will on Thursday visit jailed former Brazil president Luiz Inácio "Lula" da Silva in his Curitiba jail cell.

The visit was confirmed by Brazil Workers' Party (PT) Senator Gleisi Hoffman.

"Alberto Fernández will visit Lula in Curitiba", Hoffman told Argentina's FM La Patriada, expressing the PT's support for Fernández's run for the presidency alongside his running mate Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

"The situation that Cristina Kirchner, (Rafael) Correa and Lula are experiencing is part of a plan of political persecution against all governments in the region that defend popular interests", she alleged.

Fernández spent the start of the week visiting Peronist governors and governors-elect including Omar Perotti in Santa Fe.

Fernández's schedule of meetings also included an appearance alongside the top candidate for the Lower House on the Fernández-Fernández ticket for Buenos Aires province, Sergio Massa; and candidate for governor Axel Kicillof.

Over 100 politicians and activists met at the Meliá Hotel in Buenos Aires' Retiro neighbourhood on Tuesday to express their support for Fernández and Massa, both former Cabinet chiefs to Cristina Fernández de Kirchner during her time as president.

"A space where two or more people come together who don't necessarily agree is an enormous space. To be together, does not meet to copy one another's identities. It means that despite our differences and what sets us apart, we can still be together", Fernández said.

The Fernández-Fernández alliance is formally known as the Frente de Todos (Front for All).

HOFFMAN SCOLDS MORO
Lula's imprisonment is under scrutiny in Brazil where former ruling judge Sergio Moro, since appointed Justice Minister by President Jair Bolsonaro, has been accused of colluding to imprison da Silva so Bolsonaro could secure the presidency.

"Sergio Moro was left uncomfortable after the questions he received from some (Brazilian) lawmakers during his appearance in Congress. He is in a difficult situation having shown his partialness since he took over the Justice Ministry", Senator Hoffman said.

The accusation against judge Moro involve leaked audio recordings involving him and prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol apparently demonstrating an improper and possibly illegal relationship in the case that brought da Silva to prison.
