Milei turns Argentina's electoral map purple: provincial breakdown of results
La Libertad Avanza won in the provinces with the most electoral weight and secured a clear national victory.
As the curtain closed on Sunday's midterm legislative elections in Argentina, the nation's electoral map was painted majority purple.
La Libertad Avanza's dominance in the election was clear. More than eight million people voted for the ruling party, with its alliance coming first in 15 provinces nationwide.
Milei's party won in the five districts with the most electoral weight: Buenos Aires Province, Buenos Aires City, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Mendoza.
In Buenos Aires Province, LLA dealt an upset with a thin victory. The margin – less than one point – does not matter for the ruling party, whose list was headed by Diego Santilli.
In nearby Buenos Aires City, the nation's capital, the win was even clearer, with Patricia Bullrich taking over 50 percent of ballots cast for national senator.
In Mendoza, Defence Minister Luis Petri scored a major triumph with 53 percent as he head the ruling party's list, while libertarian-branded candidates prevailed with 42 and 40 percent in Córdoba and Santa Fe respectively – with a difference of more than 10 points over the second-placed finisher, Provincias Unidas.
On a disappointing night for the opposition coalition, Fuerza Patria registered a surprising victory in Santa Cruz Province, where a ticket headed by priest Juan Carlos Molina triumphed.
Peronism, often running under different names or alliances, also won in the provinces of Formosa, La Rioja, San Juan, Catamarca, Tucumán and La Pampa.
The only provincial ruling party which won on Sunday were Gerardo Zamora’s Frente Cívico (by 30 points) in Santiago del Estero Province and Gustavo Valdés’ Vamos Corrientes front.
