British Embassy seeking contact with British nationals in Argentina

Officials at the Embassy, headed by Ambassador Mark Kent, want to build up an accurate picture of the number of non-resident British nationals in Argentina and the issues they are currently facing.

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to cause havoc for both Argentines and foreigners alike, the British Embassy in Argentina is calling on British nationals currently in the country to get in touch, should they wish to return home to the United Kingdom.

Officials at the Embassy, headed by Ambassador Mark Kent, want to build up an accurate picture of the number of non-resident British nationals in Argentina and the issues they are currently facing in travelling home.

"Argentina closed the country’s borders for all those entering from March 27 to 31. All scheduled international flights have been suspended, although the government may permit cargo flights and a limited number of exceptional international flights," the Embassy said in a statement.

"You should find secure accommodation until you are able to make your way back the UK. If you are a British visitor still in Argentina, please send your details to [email protected]," it added.

When emailing the Embassy and its staff, British nationals need to include the following details:

– Full name(s)
– Passport details
– Date of birth(s)
– Exact current location in Argentina
– Details of the best way staff from the Embassy can get in touch.

Those seeking to stay up to date should keep their eyes on the Embassy's Twitter feed, which is available to view at www.twitter.com/UKinArgentina.

Britain's Foreign Office advises British nationals against all but essential international travel at present. Citizens who live in the UK and are currently travelling abroad, are "strongly advised to return immediately."
