Bolivian nationals were transporting 323 capsules of cocaine hidden on their person, reports authorities.
Four cocaine “mules” have been arrested in the province of Jujuy for carrying 323 capsules hidden in their bodies.
The group were detained after Border Guard officers stopped a car in which two men and two women were travelling.
The arrests occurred after officers of the “Volcán” section of the 53rd squad at a Ruta 9 checkpoint stopped a vehicle in which four people of Bolivian nationality were travelling, reported Noticias Argentinas.
In view of their unusual conduct, the Federal Prosecutors' Unit of the province was asked to authorise a procedure, which was duly approved in the presence of witnesses.
Those involved were transferred to Maimará Hospital where X-rays showed that they had suspicious elements in their stomachs, according a report by the MDZ portal.
A count of all the capsules showed their bodies to contain 323 pills of cocaine, weighing a total of three kilos. It was impounded for further investigation.
As for the “mules,” the prosecutors ordered all four to be detained for transporting drugs.
