Mar del Plata: Man in arrested for hitting vehicle in President Milei's motorcade
Man arrested after striking one of the vehicles in President Javier Milei's motorcade in the city of Mar del Plata.
A man was arrested on Tuesday after striking one of the vehicles in President Javier Milei's motorcade in the city of Mar del Plata.
Milei was visiting the popular seaside resort Tuesday night, located 400 kilometres southeast of Buenos Aires, as part of his so-called "Tour of Gratitude." He previously promised to visit different parts of the country to meet with voters who supported him in the last year's midterm elections.
On Tuesday, he was leaving a theatre after rehearsing a song he performed later that night at the show of his ex-girlfriend, comedian Fátima Flórez.
According to footage published by various media outlets, a man approached the motorcade and, while among a crowd waiting to see Milei, struck the left side of one of the vans with his open palm.
The images do not show whether the President was travelling in that vehicle.
Seconds later, the driver stopped the van, one of the security team members got out and ordered others to apprehend the attacker.
A dozen armed officers surrounded and handcuffed the man.
Milei's other motivation for visiting the city was to deliver a speech to at La Derecha Fest, a political event that brings together libertarian leaders and supporters sympathetic to the ruling party and its cause.
