Milei 'cryptogate' probe delegated to prosecutor
Prosecutor Eduardo Taiano to assemble evidence against President Javier Milei regarding his involvement in the $LIBRA cryptocurrency scandal.
Federal Judge María Servini de Cubría has delegated the Cryptogate investigation to prosecutor Eduardo Taiano as the official to assemble the evidence in the case involving President Javier Milei, court sources informed on Thursday.
Between 14 and 24 presentations have been made although not all are accusations.
The judge’s decision had to await Taiano’s return on Thursday afternoon from a conference in Costa Rica, having been on leave until then.
Servini had summoned the plaintiffs to ratify their presentations regarding the $LIBRA cryptocurrency prior to passing them onto the prosecutor to determine whether to pursue the investigation.
In the case of the first denunciation, its signatories have already presented themselves in the Retiro federal courthouse to comply with the paperwork and anticipate their intention of expanding the grounds. This accusation is pushed by ex-deputy Claudio Lozano of the Observatorio del Derecho a la Ciudad.
Amid all these accusations, the government ordered the creation of a UTI (Unidad de Tareas de Investigación) investigative unit under the Justice Ministry with the aim of gathering information via Decree 114/2025 signed by Milei.
The Anti-Corruption Office was further instructed to detect any possible corruption related to the government’s use of this digital currency.
