Milei makes it official: Amalia ‘Yuyito’ González is his new girlfriend
President Javier Milei has confirmed that well-known 80s showbiz star Amalia ‘Yuyito’ González is his new partner, confirming the news in a post on Instagram.
President Javier Milei has made it ‘official’ – well-known showbiz star Amalia ‘Yuyito’ González is his new partner.
Milei, 53, released this weekend a photo on his social media accounts this weekend in which he described González, 64, as his new “girlfriend.”
González – better known as ‘Yuyito’ – joined Milei at a Friday night event celebrating the 140th anniversary of the Rosario Stock Exchange in the provincial capital of Santa Fe Province.
“Speech at the Rosario Stock Exchange with my girlfriend Yuyito González, national deputy for Santa Fe, Romina Diez, and wonderful presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni. Viva la libertad, carajo!” Milei wrote in a post made on Instagram.
González was quick to celebrate the president's post on her own account, accompanying it with the phrase: “Friday night out with my boyfriend,” accompanied by music verses of lyrics from famous John Paul Young's song ‘Love Is In The Air.’
The President’s new girlfriend is a well-known face to Argentines. She found fame as a vedette and TV personality in the 1980s, during which time she was romantically linked to ex-president Carlos Menem.
An actress, journalist, writer and ex-showgirl, González was later the partner of Guillermo Coppola, the colourful manager and friend of legendary footballer Diego Armando Maradona.
In 2005, after a public crisis, she found religion, becoming an evangelical Christian, later detailing her conversion to a dedicated member of the faithful in a book called De la fama a la fe.
Rumours of a romance between Milei and González have been rumoured for several weeks.
They drew headlines on July 23 when the duo occupied the presidential box at the Teatro Colón for a performance of the opera Carmen.
González also accompanied Milei to an event at the Palacio Libertad (formerly known as the Kirchner Cultural Centre) the following month, with the head of state greeting her with a kiss.
A day later, González herself confirmed she was seeing the President in a television programme.
“It's a healthy, pure, innocent thing ... We're falling in love,” she said, adding: “We're boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Milei announced in mid-April the end of his relationship with actress, comedian and impersonator Fátima Florez, with whom he had begun a relationship in mid-2023.
Milei said that Florez had received numerous offers to work in the United States and Europe, and that this, together with his presidential work, had led them to live apart and break up.
Milei, who has never been married and has no children, formerly dated singer Daniela Mori in 2018 and 2019.
The self-described “anarcho-capitalist” leader – a prominent economist known for his eccentricities and aggressive, outspoken style – described his four English mastiff dogs, clones of late pet Conan, as his “four-legged children.”
