Some 92,081 homes went without power last night after electricity suppliers in Buenos Aires City and Greater Buenos Aires failed to fully meet the high demand for energy. Thursday February 8 was one of the hottest days in the capital this summer.
The cuts affected around 370,000 people on a day in which the heat index reached 40 degrees celsius (104 degrees fahrenheit).
The Edenor and Edesur electricity suppliers reported the cuts to the national energy regulator ENRE on Friday morning as the temperature plummeted to 26 degrees following a much-awaited storm.

Paz and Malvinas Argentinas
Edesur reported 55,421 affected customers in six City neighbourhoods and in the Greater BA districts of Almirante Brown, Avellaneda, Berazategui, Ezeiza, Florencio Varela, Lanús, Quilmes and Esteban Echeverría.
