Amalia ‘Yuyito’ González confirms split from President Javier Milei

Showbiz star Amalia 'Yuyito' González announces on her daytime TV programme that her and President Javier Milei have decided to end their relationship.

Showbiz star Amalia “Yuyito” González has confirmed her separation from President Javier Milei, marking the end of a high-profile relationship that began in August 2024.

Television presenter González, 65, made the announcement during her Empezar el Día TV programme on Monday morning.​

“I want to announce that we have ended our relationship, with Javier Milei,” González stated. “I have decided to end it and he has too. This is mutual; we are perfectly fine, in perfect terms, but we have made this decision with dignity, fortitude, and maturity.”​

The couple's romance was rumoured when they attended an event at the Teatro Colón in July last year. It Became public knowledge when they shared a kiss at the Centro Cultural Kirchner the following month. 

Since then, González has frequently spoken about their relationship on her show, sharing personal details of their love and often defending it against media speculation.

Last December, she had publicly dismissed rumours of a break-up, asserting, “There is no crisis, people. Stop it.”​

On Monday, González explained her decision and revealed why she had chosen to speak publicly about it: “I decided to announce it simply because, just as I have shared everything for almost a year, it was also fair and logical to announce this separation.”​

Describing their relationship as “beautiful, very beautiful,” she then said she would not be making any further public comment on the issue.

“I am grateful to God for that and for what is to come, grateful for what God has for my life, which I can already glimpse and brings me much happiness.”​

“I know that two hundred million microphones will be waiting for me at the end of the programme. Know that I have nothing more to say than this,” said the ex-vedette.

President Milei has yet to comment on the subject.

González is a well-known face to Argentines. She found fame as a vedette and TV personality in the 1980s, during which time she was romantically linked to ex-president Carlos Menem.

An actress, journalist, writer and ex-showgirl, González was later the partner of Guillermo Coppola, the colourful manager and friend of legendary footballer Diego Armando Maradona.

In 2005, after a public crisis, she found religion, becoming an evangelical Christian, later detailing her conversion to a dedicated member of the faithful in a book called De la fama a la fe.

Milei, who has never been married and has no children, formerly dated singer Daniela Mori and actress, comedian and impersonator Fátima Florez, among others.
