Four cocaine “mules” have been arrested in the province of Jujuy for carrying 323 capsules hidden in their bodies.
The group were detained after Border Guard officers stopped a car in which two men and two women were travelling.
The arrests occurred after officers of the “Volcán” section of the 53rd squad at a Ruta 9 checkpoint stopped a vehicle in which four people of Bolivian nationality were travelling, reported Noticias Argentinas.
In view of their unusual conduct, the Federal Prosecutors' Unit of the province was asked to authorise a procedure, which was duly approved in the presence of witnesses.
Those involved were transferred to Maimará Hospital where X-rays showed that they had suspicious elements in their stomachs, according a report by the MDZ portal.
A count of all the capsules showed their bodies to contain 323 pills of cocaine, weighing a total of three kilos. It was impounded for further investigation.
As for the “mules,” the prosecutors ordered all four to be detained for transporting drugs.
