Coronavirus meeting to be held at Casa Rosada

Meeting will take place after the 17th case of coronavirus was recorded in the country. All patients diagnosed with Covid-19 had previously travelled to countries with high numbers of confirmed cases.

Argentine officials are huddling at the Casa Rosada this afternoon for an emergency meeting on the Covid-19 virus.

An "interdisciplinary" cabinet will meet at Government House on Tuesday at 3pm to address issues related to the coronavirus, with 17 confirmed cases and one death recorded in the country to date.

According to official sources quoted by the Noticias Argentinas news agency, the meeting will be a follow-up to an initial meeting held last Friday.

Health Minister Ginés González García said at a press conference Monday that all the patients diagnosed with Covid-19 in the country had been infected during trips to Europe.

In addition, he said that "to date, Argentina has not registered a community transmission of the new SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus."

This will be the second interdisciplinary meeting of the 'Coronavirus Cabinet.' The last was led by Cabinet Chief Santiago Cafiero, with officials such as González García, City Health Minister Fernán Quirós, Health Access Secretary Carla Vizzotti and epidemiologists Gustavo Lopardo and Tomás Orduna also in attendance.
