Officials confirm 474 new virus infections, new daily high for Argentina

Total number of confirmed cases now stands at 9,283, death toll rises above 400.

Officials confirmed the deaths of nine more people from Covid-19 in Argentina on Wednesday, as the country recorded its highest number of infections in a single day since the pandemic began.

A total of 474 new cases were recorded on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said in a statement, lifting the total number of confirmed infections to 9,283.

To date, there was been 403 fatalities from Covid-19, including the nine who died yesterday – four men and five women. Four lived in Buenos Aires Province, two in Buenos Aires City and there were single fatalities in Córdoba, Río Negro and Chaco.

Of the total number of new patients, 257 are from the City of Buenos Aires, 178 from the province of Buenos Aires, two are from Córdoba, 35 are in Chaco, with two in Río Negro.

Of all the cases registered so far, 945 (10.2 percent) are imported, 4,068 (43.8 percent) are close contacts of confirmed cases, 2,919 (31.4 percent) are cases of community circulation and the rest are still being researched.
