Some of Argentina's most prestigious journalists will present the final screenings of "El mensajero" this weekend at the Cine Amigos del Bellas Artes in Recoleta.
Former Herald journalist and reporter for The Guardian, Uki Goñi, will introduce the film and take questions on Friday from 7pm at Avenida Alcorta 2280. On Saturday, also from 7pm, Clarín journalist Daniel Santoro will join other special presenters. Sunday will be the turn of Argentina's beloved broadcaster Magdalena Ruíz Guiñazú from 5pm.
The film, titled “Messenger on a White Horse” in English, premiered at the Buenos Aires Independent Cinema Festival in April before its commercial release in October.
The film depicts the first dramatic years of the 1976-83 military dictatorship in which Robert Cox's community newspaper became a beacon for press freedom and human rights.
The Herald was the only newspaper to consistently report on the military's human rights crimes.
