Transport unions lift planned 25 de Mayo strike

There will be train, Subte and bus services running this Saturday, avoiding disruption on a national holiday.

Transport unions announced this afternoon that they have lift their planned strike action scheduled for tomorrow.

As a result, there will be train, Subte and bus services running on the 25 de Mayo public holiday.

The unions grouped under the Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers (CATT) banner lifted the measure of force after holding a meeting with Production and Labour Minister Dante Sica and Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich.

The two sides announced that they had agreed to set up a working work to deal with tax on workers' salaries, to find a route out of their existing dispute.

As revealed by Perfil earlier this week, the transport unions on Wednesday proposed a compromise to the Government in order to avoid a "cessation of activities" on May 25.
