Buenos Aires celebrates cultural offerings with annual 'Night of the Museums'

Highly anticipated 20th edition of 'La Noche de los Museos' ("Night of the Museums") returns this weekend. Annual event opens the doors to museums, cultural institutions, and iconic buildings across the city.

The highly anticipated 20th edition of "La Noche de los Museos" (Night of the Museums) is set to illuminate Buenos Aires on November 9th. This annual event opens the doors to museums, cultural institutions, and iconic buildings across the city, offering a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to explore a vibrant array of free programs designed to surprise and inspire.

With over 250 participating venues, this year's celebration promises to be larger and more engaging than ever. Here are just a few highlights:

Usina del Arte (La Boca): From 7 PM to 2 AM, attendees can enjoy a stunning mapping show projected onto the building's façade, plus food trucks, aerial painting, and artistic workshops for all ages.

Torre Monumental (Retiro): Guided tours to the tower's viewpoint begin at 7 PM, alongside a stencil printing workshop for kids at 8 PM.

Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires (MACBA) (San Telmo): At 9 PM, join a collaborative drawing activity inspired by the work of Ernesto Ballesteros.

Museo de Farmacobotánica (Recoleta): A unique workshop at 8 PM invites visitors to explore the microscopic life of plants.

Museo de la Imaginación y el Juego (Puerto Madero): Open from 4 PM to 10 PM, entry is free, but advance booking is required to explore the museum's exhibits.

Radio Nacional (San Nicolás): Visitors can tour the radio studios and attend live music and dance performances starting at 8:30 PM.

Additionally, transport throughout the city has been coordinated to facilitate exploration. A “pase libre” allows for free travel on selected buses and subway lines between 6 PM and 3 AM, ensuring easy access to cultural venues.

This year’s event also features a nostalgic highlight: a limited opportunity to ride historic wooden cars on the Line A subway. Only a select few will be lucky enough to experience this journey, as they will be chosen through a public lottery.
