One of the capital’s most beloved cultural celebrations is back: more than 250 venues will open their doors this Saturday (November 9) for the much-anticipated 20th edition of ‘La Noche de los Museos’ (“Night of the Museums”).
This annual event opens the doors to museums, cultural institutions, and iconic buildings across the city, offering a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to explore a vibrant array of free programmes designed to surprise and inspire.
This year's celebration promises to be larger and more engaging than ever. Here are just a few highlights:
Usina del Arte (La Boca): From 7pm to 2am, attendees can enjoy a stunning mapping show projected onto the building's façade, plus food trucks, aerial painting, and artistic workshops for all ages.
Torre Monumental (Retiro): Guided tours to the tower's viewpoint begin at 7pm, alongside a stencil printing workshop for kids at 8pm.
Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires (MACBA) (San Telmo): At 9pm, join a collaborative drawing activity inspired by the work of Ernesto Ballesteros.
Museo de Farmacobotánica (Recoleta): A unique workshop at 8pm invites visitors to explore the microscopic life of plants.
Museo de la Imaginación y el Juego (Puerto Madero): Open from 4pm to 1pm, entry is free, but advance booking is required to explore the museum's historic exhibitions.
Radio Nacional (San Nicolás): Visitors can tour the radio studios and attend live music and dance performances starting at 8.30pm..
To facilitate exploration of the capital, transport throughout the city will be free. A “pase libre” allows for rides on selected buses and subway lines between 6pm and 3am, ensuring easy access to cultural venues.
This year’s event also features a nostalgic highlight: a limited opportunity to ride historic wooden cars on the Line A subway. Only a select few will be lucky enough to experience this journey, as they will be chosen through a public lottery.
