OPINION AND ANALYSIS | Today 09:02

Who we really are

A DNA different from other humans? Not at all, simply a set of essential values that historically characterise and culturally mobilise.

In their 1988 founding Covenant, the Palestinians of Hamas (undoubtedly guided by their Iranian Ayatollah masters) established that: “The Day of Judgment will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.’” (Article 7).

It wasn't just another anti-Semitic threat, one of the many we've become accustomed to hearing over 2,000 years of history. They mobilised their intentions and actions, starting on October 7, 2023. With considerable success, they followed these genocidal directives to behead, kidnap, rape and murder hundreds upon hundreds of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian civilians whose main crime was being Israeli or living in Israel.

Of course, Hamas’ "special terrorist training" always leads them to attack women, the elderly, children, or unarmed civilians, knowing that in a match of equals or in a face-to-face confrontation, they will generally be defeated.

It's not just cowardice, but a calculated tactic: better to strike first and then invoke "genocide" to avoid natural responses. One of the most frequently used strategies involved tunnels to protect terrorists and force Gazan civilians to stay above them to avoid being bombed.

This aimed to undermine the Israeli Defence Force’s ethics, unique in the history of warfare for warning civilians by phone and leaflets to evacuate areas under attack (thus losing the enormous advantage of military surprise, but gaining morally by attempting to limit "collateral damage" to innocent people).

Sadly, the Western world has sided with them – “It’s regrettable” – It’s acceptable to kill and murder civilians for an idea or religion, but what is absolutely unacceptable is for Jews to attempt to defend themselves in any way. Let us remember once again that Israel did not attack Gaza; Gaza invaded and attacked Israel, resulting in the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

Another common strategy was to establish all command centres within and under hospitals and schools, meaning that any attack on these structures would help “justify” the highly inappropriate international censorship.

The list of abuses by Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists is endless and continues to this day. The world has heard harrowing accounts of Israeli men and women being sexually brutalised and filmed before and during Hamas’s captivity, but now chilling new testimonies are emerging from inside Gaza.

Gaza residents living under Hamas’ rule are beginning to break their silence, describing sexual abuse by multiple men, sexual blackmail for help or money, and abuse by those in positions of power. This comes amid growing concerns about the group's reestablishment of control, while global attention is focused on the conflict in Iran.

Human rights organisations in Gaza have told The Daily Mail newspaper that up to 60,000 women are vulnerable, and reports also indicate an increase in child marriage and pregnancy.

The Mail has obtained rare video testimonies, filmed by Jusoor News from inside the Gaza Strip, where speaking out naturally carries the risk of death.

78 years of Independence

On April 22 (5 Iyar in the Jewish calendar), Israel celebrated 78 years of independence with a population of 10.244 million (21 percent of whom are fully integrated Arabs), demonstrating a unique capacity for resilience and overcoming adversity in the history of humankind.

It grew by 146,000 people in a single year, despite war, hostages, and renewed and unjustified global hostility. That inclusive Zionism, or liberation movement of the Jewish people, envisioned by Herzl and built "furrow by furrow" by thousands of people, is still very much alive.

The six million murdered in the Holocaust were not enough; nor were the thousands of ballistic and hypersonic missiles from Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen; nor the repeated wars of survival (Israel would have been destroyed and all its Arab or Jewish inhabitants killed had it lost any of them), along with thousands of attacks of every conceivable and unthinkable kind – in Argentina, we tragically suffered two of them.

The most prominent anti-Semites always spread slander by referring to "the great fortunes of the Jews" (despite the fact that, objectively, Christians previously and now Muslims hold the greatest wealth); also, an alleged "pretension to dominate the world" (the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a collection of Nazi pamphlets, the local Andinia Plan, etc.). Now these diatribes have been replaced by disproportionate propaganda about the filth of Jeffrey Epstein's pimping, just one more miserable pimp on a long list of people of all colours and religions.

However, it is rarely mentioned that between 1901 and 2025, approximately 20 percent to 22 percent of all Nobel Prize laureates have been Jewish, representing more than 200 individuals (40 percent in Economics, 26 percent in Physiology or Medicine, 24 percent in Physics, 19 percent in Chemistry, 14 percent in Literature and 8 percent in Peace).

What percentage of the world's population do Jews represent to achieve such recognition? The entire global Jewish population is estimated at approximately 15.8 million people, which is about 0.2 percent of the total human population.

A DNA different from other humans? Not at all, simply a set of essential values that historically characterise and culturally mobilise (rejection of dogmas, need for effort and study, resilience, but above all and most of all… a monumental critical thinking).
