President Javier Milei says he will attend Congress next Wednesday to offer backing to under-fire Cabinet Chief Manuel Adorni when the official presents his annual report to lawmakers.
In an interview with the Neura streaming channel, Milei said he would back Adorni, one of his most trusted officials, in a public show of support.
“I’ll be there. I’m going to listen to my Cabinet,” the President confirmed.
Adorni is under investigation by the courts for alleged illicit enrichment, following revelations in the media about multiple properties and spending that doesn’t tally with his sworn statements filed as a public official.
Milei said Adorni “will provide the appropriate answers” to the questions raised about his flights to Punta del Este and the properties he has acquired in recent years.
“Manuel will provide the appropriate answers. The judicial system is proceeding calmly. All the necessary steps are being taken. We are very calm,” Milei said.
The Cabinet chief’s appearance will come in two parts. The first will be an annual report detailing achievements and management issues; the second will be a question-and-answer session, during which lawmakers are expected to probe Adorni about the allegations against him and other scandals facing the La Libertad Avanza government.
